Tracy Stuever, MS, LCMFT, RPT-S

Education: I graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Psychology Degree and minor in Sociology. I furthered my education and obtained my Masters of Science for Marriage and Family Therapy through Friends University in 2002. I completed my Play Therapy Certification from KC Play Therapy Institute in 2012. I received my RPT-S in 2014 and have supervised previous KC Play classes and students.

Experience: I’ve been in private practice since 2011, more recently merging with Four Branches Therapy & Wellness. Currently, I work with individuals, couples, and families and meet the client with their needs in their presentation in therapy. I like being able to work with a diversity of clients as it creates balance. Areas of interest generally are, but not limited to, working with clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, women’s issues, divorce, and adult and child ADHD. I have extensive training in trauma and trauma informed care. I have also been trained in Brain Gym and utilize many of those techniques with clients that are struggling with anxiety, depression, or self-acceptance. I also provide clinical supervision for those working towards their clinical license.

Prior to private practice, I worked as a school based therapist and an outpatient therapist at a mental health facility. Earlier in my career, I worked in the foster care system providing support to children, parents, and families through case management, as well also supervising and managing foster care staff . Through all my roles and positions, I’ve worked a lot with trauma and trauma informed care and how trauma affects individuals physically as well as emotionally.

Additional Information: I love utilizing play therapy with children as well as adults, whether it’s through non-directive or directive approaches. I do a lot of sand tray work with my adult clients and I am always amazed of the language that it creates both for myself in understanding the client and for the client better understanding themselves. I feel like play therapy opens a greater door of expression of language and further explanation and self-discovery. When I do supervision, I prefer to do it in 1.5 hours as opposed to an hour. However, if the supervisee chooses different I’m open to discussing those possibilities. Since play therapy is a unique form of experiential therapy, I want to ensure that my supervisees have ample opportunity to be able to get their needs met through supervision. In the past, I’ve found that an hour was not enough when you are initiating assessment, exploring implementation, utilizing case reviews, and having the follow up as needed. I feel like all of these are essential things that need to occur in supervision. Although I’m in Wichita, I’m open to supervising those outside of the area if needed. My only requirement is that we do meet face to face at times, but I currently do distant supervision over Vsee, a confidential site, when I can’t connect with my supervisees face to face.
