Sand Therapy Certificate Program
We are excited to support you in your journey toward becoming a credentialed sand therapy practitioner—whether through earning a sand therapy certificate or achieving the designation of Registered Sand Therapist through the World Association for Sand Therapy Professionals. Outlined below is our newly developed Sand Therapy Certificate Program, designed to guide you through the credentialing process while strengthening your clinical sand therapy skills through targeted training and consultation.
Sand Therapy Foundational Certificate (STFC) Requirements
Training: 96 sand therapy training hours
Experience: At least 1 year working with clients utilizing sand therapy
License Status: You do not need to be clinically licensed to obtain this certificate
These requirements are designed by the World Association of Sand Therapy Professionals
Registered Sand Therapist (RST) Credential Requirements – Track 1
Training: Have obtained the Sand Therapy Foundational Certificate (STFC – 96 hours of sand therapy training)
Experience: 2 years practicing sand therapy with clients
Continuing Education: 12 sand therapy training hours within last 2 years in addition to 96 from STFC
License Status: Fully licensed (able to practice therapy independently in your jurisdiction)
Consultation: 22 hours (up to 11 group hours)
Personal Work: Required, but no minimum or proof required at this time
