Monica Reintjes, PhD, LPC, RPT™

Dr. Monica Reintjes, LPC, RPT™ is a proud supporter of military families and is dedicated to helping them thrive. As a military spouse, adjunct college professor, and mom to three, she is passionate about helping families overcome the unique challenges of military life. She is the founder of Reintjes Counseling, a virtual boutique practice and a registered play therapist as her work is based in attachment therapy with both teens and parents. Dr. Reintjes passion is in direct, solution-focused work with military members and their families, both past and present.

Dr. Reintjes is passionate about equipping military families to thrive in the chaos of frequent moves and is excited to release her self-paced digital courses for anyone who has a military connected family (or works with them). These courses will also be beneficial for therapists who work with military families.

Dr. Reintjes is a Latina therapist who gets it when it comes to the generational impact of cultural shifts or a military spouse who truly understands the stress of inconsistent communication with your military partner, managing the home and kids on your own while he/she is away, trauma, feeling isolated and lonely, limited support, and the overwhelm of single parenting while he’s deployed. She knows the frustration that comes with career interruption and being stuck in a season of life that wasn’t planned for.

Dr. Reintjes loves digging through the rubble of military life, relationships, motherhood, and trauma with others–a passion she developed in high school and further explored in college. She is fascinated by people and their stories, especially how they relate to family and friends. This curiosity is what led her into the wellness profession. Dr. Reintjes has over 11 years of experience in the mental health field, first in Kansas and now in Virginia. She became a Registered Play Therapist because it combines both of her passion for people and development with her fascination with relationships and stories.
