Kate Weir, LPC Supervisor, RPT-S
Kate Weir, M.Ed, Ed.S, received her professional degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia and has more than 20 years of experience working as a mental health professional with children, teens, and adults. Kate is a licensed professional counselor-supervisor and a registered play therapist-supervisor who works as an educator in several fields, including Stephens College and Heartland Play Therapy Institute. She has also taught for The Ukraine Project, which provides postgraduate Ukranian psychologists with embedded clinical supervision, instruction, and training from American experts. Kate loves teaching Child Parent Relationship Theory and using it with parents in her private practice. Kate mentors practicum students, supervises provisionally licensed professional counselors, and supervises professionals seeking play therapy certification. In her private practice, she uses play therapy with children as young as three, and also works with teen and adult clients.
Kate began her counseling career in Wilmington, North Carolina at a family counseling agency. As part of her role at the counseling agency, Kate worked with local school counselors to develop and carry out solution-focused anger management programs at both the elementary and high school levels. Kate spent several years as a professional school counselor at both the elementary and secondary levels. With much school experience, Kate is well-equipped to help children and parents with school-based issues such as bullying, social development, academic performance, ADHD, and behavioral issues. Currently, Kate practices privately in Columbia, Missouri. In her private practice, Kate provides individual therapy for children, teens, and young adults. She also provides parent and school consultation and works closely with families.
Kate is the founder and former Director of Kindred Collective, a community of therapists who specialize in play therapy while also offering services to teens, adults, and parents. Kate currently directs the Kindred LOFT, an off-shoot of Kindred Collective focusing on the training of play therapists, community outreach and family support.
Kate cherishes family time with her fun ’tween son and her husband of more than 20 years. She is a self-proclaimed bookworm, and her “happy place” is a cozy coffee shop where she is equipped with a book, sticky notes and brightly colored gel pens. She loves making memories with her family, learning, and playing in or near water.

Kate offers concurrent clinical supervision for individuals seeking play therapy supervision and clinical licensure in professional counseling in the state of Missouri.
