Erin Walker, a Licensed Specialized Clinical Social Worker at Creative Connections, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in mental health care. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas, complemented by a Play Therapy Certification from Heartland Play Therapy Institute. Her educational journey underscores her commitment to providing specialized and compassionate care to her clients.
Erin’s professional expertise was shaped by her initial focus on elementary-aged children in a school setting, followed by a significant role in the WRAP (Working to Recognize Alternative Possibilities) program at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, where she worked with adolescents. After obtaining her MSW degree, she continued as a WRAP therapist in the Lawrence Public School System, providing crucial services such as crisis intervention, therapeutic interventions, and support for at-risk children and their families. These experiences have honed her skills in addressing a variety of mental health challenges.
At Creative Connections, Erin’s practice now encompasses a broad range of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, and families. She employs a diverse array of therapeutic techniques, such as Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Yoga, and mindfulness. Erin’s approach is characterized by a strong understanding of mental health, where each client’s unique needs are met with creative and effective therapeutic strategies.
