Play Therapy with Abuse and Trauma

This experiential workshop will focus on understanding various types of abuse and trauma, including domestic violence, sexual abuse, physical abuse and sex trafficking.  The workshop will explore common play themes within the context of abuse and trauma, identify appropriate play therapy treatment techniques and discuss vicarious traumatization.

Objectives:
1.  The workshop will provide an overview of play therapy planning and specific play therapy techniques to use with individuals who have experienced various types of abuse and trauma through instruction, case studies, demonstration and experiential engagement.
2.  The workshop will provide an overview of current research in the treatment of individuals who have experienced abuse and trauma, as well as the implications this research has on play therapy treatment.
3. The workshop will provide an overview of the key concepts of vicarious trauma and provide the training participants the opportunity for self-reflection and experiential engagement to explore their own experience with vicarious trauma.
